Our Story

Church History

Indiantown Evangelical Haitian Church of the Nazarene, formerly known as Eglise Evangelique Haitienne, has begun in the heart and mind of God. God had called various individuals from different churches to reach out to a new group of Haitian immigrants who arrived in Indiantown in 1980. Among the pioneers, we cannot overlook the effort of Rev. Jacques Alexandre, who traveled from Pompano Beach to Indiantown during those years to minister to a handful of people at a daycare center in Booker Park area. After Brother Alexandre faced many challenges, Brother Pascal Permis, at the time a student at Hobe Sound Bible College, agreed to continue as the pastor to fulfill the Christian service requirement of the college.

Our Transformation

What began as a training center for Rev. Pascal Permis in 1984, has continued to be a love fest for his spiritual journey and a blessing for his ministerial career. In that little community and among a group of fervent and faithful church members, his wife Micheline and him raised three boys, Pascal Jr., Philemon, and Pudens Permis. After prayerful consideration and collaborative deliberation in 1992, Eglise Evangelique Haitienne agreed to affiliate with the Church of the Nazarene in January 1993. This union has been transformed into a movement called Evangelical Church of the Nazarene, which becomes a launchpad for many new churches in the Southern Florida District Church of the Nazarene
